I couldn't find a good place for this but I want peoples opinions. Why is it that it is exceptable for girls to cry and not guys? other than girls being hormonal, what is there?

OpenStudy (ja1):

Social Sciences mate

OpenStudy (ja1):

But here is just fine too

OpenStudy (ja1):

And I think it is because men "cannot" show weakness because they are the "dominant" and "strong" gender so they can't cry like women do.

OpenStudy (ja1):

Oh god I feel thom is making one of his legendary replies :/

thomaster (thomaster):

Because women tend to be more emotional than men, because they excrete the hormone estrogen. Men don't excrete estrogen, but testosteron, which makes them less emotional than women. Because women are more emotional, it is more acceptable for girls to cry. Also as @JA1 mentioned, men see themselves as dominant and tough. Most men are affraid when people see them cry, they will be considered a sissy or coward. Girls often don't have that feeling.

OpenStudy (ja1):

^

OpenStudy (dumbsearch2):

Great answer @thomaster And @JA1 I thought that Social Sciences had more to do with History ?

OpenStudy (ja1):

Actually no, there are so many different types it's not even funny, to name a few: Anthropology Economical Historical Educational Communication Psychological Political Geographical Sociology and many more lol @dumbsearch2

OpenStudy (dumbsearch2):

I didn't know psychological had to do with it @JA1 But thanks anyways :) For your EXTREMELY LONG list :P

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

girls cry because you use "exceptable" in place of "acceptable" :-)

OpenStudy (ja1):

Yupp but it's more of a micro study as opposed to a macro study and yes you're welcome for the long list xD
