Jack reduced a picture to use as a logo for his company. The picture is 24 in. wide × 36 in. high. The logo is 6 in. wide. How high is the logo? umm makes no sense soooo confussled

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

24/36 = 6/x

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

solve for x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

12??

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

Just cross multiply to solve for 'x'

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

so what is 24 times x? and what is 6 times 36?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

216 and .... ummm idk

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

24/36 = 6/x x = (36/24)*6 = 36*(6/24) = 36*(1/4) = 9

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

24 times x = 24x so we have 24x = 216 now divide both sides by 24 x = ...?

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

you can cross cancel as to not deal with big numbers

OpenStudy (anonymous):

9

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

x = (36/24)*6 = 36*(6/24) = 36*(1/4) = 9 note the rearrangement and how it made life easy

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

lol yes or do it as @zzr0ck3r has shown...but yes....9 is your answer!
