To be honest you should check several parameter that is hard to list in one simple page. But you must make a study of population density, a study of ecological diversity in the area and finally monitoring the characteristics of the environment is very important.  Monitoring the population density is possible to realize if the impacts caused by the project are or are not affecting the ecological community.
