Use the distributive property to simplify the expression below: −3(3d − 1) + 5d

Hi!

OpenStudy (marissalovescats):

With the distributive property, it says every term on the outside must get multiplied by every term on the inside. So -3 (outside term) will be times by 3d and -1. Does that make sense?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-9d +-3+5d

OpenStudy (anonymous):

marissa u forgot to multiply -3 by -1 when u do that it becomes a positive because a negative times a negative becomes a positive

OpenStudy (anonymous):

they are both wrong...

OpenStudy (marissalovescats):

I've been on here doing math for about 3 hours XD My mistake is understandable hahaha.

OpenStudy (marissalovescats):

Listen brain. A negative times a negative is a positive. -9d+5d= +3. There. Jeeez Marissa. XD
