Is partial differential equations pure math? I was looking at a applied differential equations textbook with fourier series and boundary value problems but I hardly see any numbers and seems like all of them are proof based. Is this true? Can you suggest me a good textbook for partial differential equations for physics and engineering majors? Thanks.

They will not be totally proof based in an applied class, they will mostly just be some basic theoretical justifications for using Fourier series (and other orthogonal expansions).
