What polynomial has roots of -1, -2, and 3 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x3 + 6x2 + 11x + 6 x3 - x2 - 5x + 2 x3 + 2x2 - 7x + 2 x3 - 7x - 6

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

You can eliminate the middle 2 immediately. You tell me why. Hint: A polynomial with a root of -1 has a factor of (x-(-1)) = (x+1)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is it x^3 + 6x^2 + 11x + 6 because the bottom can't have 3 roots, right?

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Sorry. The bottom one has three.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so its the bottom one?

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

I don't know. You tell me. 1) Why did I first discard the middle two? 2) What other information do we need?
