x/4-5/8=x+3/16

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

Easiest way to do this is multiply everything by 16, if only to get rid of the denominators... \[\Large \color{green}{16\cdot}\frac{x}4 -\color{green}{16\cdot}\frac58=\color{green}{16\cdot}\frac{x+3}{16}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thankkkk youu soooooo much!!! but could you divide them?

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

Divide? We simplify...cancel, if you will :) \[\Large \color{green}{^4\cancel{16}\cdot}\frac{x}{\cancel4_1} -\color{green}{^2\cancel{16}\cdot}\frac5{\cancel8_1}=\color{green}{^1\cancel{16}\cdot}\frac{x+3}{\cancel{16}_1}\]

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

Leaving us with... \[\Large 4x - 2\cdot 5 = x + 3\]\[\Large 4x - 10 = x+3\] Now solving for x is easier :)

I love you!! You are the bestttt :)

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

LOL aren't I? haha JK

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes (:
