Angle DAB measures (4x - 2)degrees and angle BCD measures 47 degrees. Find x.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Angle DAB = angle BCD 4x -2 = 47 x = ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4x=49 x=12.25

OpenStudy (dan815):

lol who says DAB = BCD?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can you draw it out?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

first one

Okay, in this case dauspex's method works, because opposite angles are congruent in parallelograms. But it is not always so. For example: |dw:1373528416304:dw| Obviously there \(\widehat{DAB} \ncong \widehat{BCD}\). P.S.: Sorry, I don't know how to make an arc accent, so I used `\widehat` instead.
