What is the surface area of the cylinder? https://nafccsd3647-fchs-ccl.gradpoint.com/Resource/1998126,72F,0,0,0,0,0/Assets/testitemimages/geometry_b/surface_area_and_volume/mc031-1.jpg

The total formula for both surface areas of the circles and of the cylinder would be 2 x pi x r x r plus 2 x pi x r x h = 2 x pi x 9 x 9 (equals 509 to the nearest whole number) added to 2 x pi x 9 x 12 = 679 to the nearest whole number. adding both would give you 1188 ft squared to the nearest whole number(:

But but but.. That's not an answer choice.. This is why I'm confused.. O.o

378π ft2 540π ft2 216π ft2 594π ft2

OOH I GOT IT

OpenStudy (anonymous):

They're not asking for the total surface area; they're asking for the surface area of the cylinder. In that case, it's only 2 x pi x 9 x 12 which would be 216ft 2.

OpenStudy (fifciol):

\[2 \pi r^2 + 2\pi rh=2\pi r(r+h)=2\pi *9ft(9+12)ft=378 \pi ft^2\]

Ohhhh Thank youu! (: I get it now!
