What is the value of the x variable in the solution to the following system of equations? 4x + 8y = 8 x + 2y = 2 A) 0 B) 2 C) There is no x value as there is no solution to this system D) x can be any value as there are infinitely many solutions to this system

OpenStudy (lopus):

you can multiply x +2y =2 *-4 y sum two equation

OpenStudy (snuggielad):

This would be better answered by using the substitution steps.

OpenStudy (snuggielad):

Get one variable isolated on one side and then substitute that problem on the otherside of the equal sign into the second problem and then solve for the other

OpenStudy (souvik):

if you common 4 from both sides of the first equation you'll get the second equation..so they have no solution...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

isolate the variables so you could get X on one side.
