The root's are tricking me.
A root of an equation is a point where the graph of the equation crossed the x-axis. There is a point that is just below the x-axis. What value of x is closest to that point?
This has nothing to do with square root. Here "root" is being used simply as the meaning I wrote above.

I only see 6. Where do you see -1? You are only looking for the x-value.
