Give me examples Analytically: how can algebra be used and applied to understanding this concept and answering questions about them? o Numerically: how can numbers be used to estimate or determine exactly these ideas? o Graphically: what does this look like? FOR WHAT IS MULTIPLICATION & WHATS ADDITION!

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

I'm not exactly sure of what you're asking

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

is there more context?

OpenStudy (mary.rojas):

:/

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

seems like a very odd question is this of rational expressions or radical expressions or something?

OpenStudy (mary.rojas):

its a paper the question is what is addition she needs topics or ideas of what she could write about.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

well graphically for addition you could use a number line but that's about it that's coming to mind at the moment

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

ex: 2+3 is like you starting at 2 on the number line and moving over 3 spots to the right to land on 5, so that proves that 2+3 = 5

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

multiplication could be something like you have 3 rows of blocks and each row has 7 blocks each so you have 3*7 = 21 blocks in all (you would count each block and there would be 21 blocks total) this would be the visual example to multiplication

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

as for the numerically and analytically part, I'm not sure what they're looking for exactly

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

hmm this is just a very badly worded question, no offense

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

it seems like there should be a function or something

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

if you can, please post a screenshot of the whole question

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

maybe that will have more info

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

I think it's just a case where you're supposed to write about addition and multiplication and try to explain it to someone who has never seen addition or multiplication before

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

ie imagine you're a teacher trying to teach someone how to add two numbers

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

along the way you would use numeric examples, visual examples, etc etc

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

yeah you would fit it to that form of course

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

I'm not sure what else I could say about it

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

well algebraically I think would be like asking x+5 = 10 or ____ + 5 = 10 what goes in the blank?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

at least I think that's what they want

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

numerically sounds like you add just like normal maybe you can show the rules for carry for this one or something

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

sure thing, I wish I could've been more help

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

I saw the pictures, why do you ask?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

hmm ok lol

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

yes I remember, and yw
