On my teachers pop quizzes, I do so well... but when it comes to these, I always get B's and C's :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you, you are a life saver :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Im thinking B.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

My sister says its A but idk why

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yay :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I asked Jessica and she said A

OpenStudy (kropot72):

Stratified sampling makes allowance for known differences within the underlying population. So A is not the technique that was used. Simple random sampling is equivalent to each member of the parent population having an equal probability of being selected; also each selection must be independent of the others. So B is not the sampling technique that was used.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Then that only leaves D.

OpenStudy (kropot72):

Systematic sampling entails choosing each member of the sample by ordering the sample frame in some way; then individuals are selected at regular intervals. An example is taking a 1% sample of telephone subscribers by selecting the 31st, 131st, 231st (and so on) of the names in the telephone directory. So systematic sampling is not the technique that was used.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

my final answer is Cluster?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry for being wrong a lot :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm really trying my best.

OpenStudy (kropot72):

Not a problem. The choices left are Convenience sampling, Census and Cluster sampling. A census is a 100% survey. Do you think that the principal took a census?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, it said that they took surveys

OpenStudy (anonymous):

would that be it?

OpenStudy (kropot72):

A survey is what each student had to fill in. Not all of the students in all of the English classes were chosen. Therefore a census was not taken. Now the choices are Convenience or Cluster sampling.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Would it be convenience?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it would be convenient to choose because the proximity of them is just the English Classes where then can be easily found.

OpenStudy (kropot72):

I think that Cluster sampling was used. This method of sampling entails choosing the members of the sample from one or several groups {clusters) instead of selecting at random from the entire population. Convenience sampling is also known as Opportunity sampling. Convenience sampling is unstructured when compared with Cluster sampling.

SHOOT!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh man..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks though, I learned, I emailed my answer, too late to change it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you for taking your time to help me :)

OpenStudy (kropot72):

Thanks for taking the time to go thru it. I'm glad that you found it helpful :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hey i have a nother probelm

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont want to know the answer, dont tell me. Just tell me how to solve it.

Directrix (directrix):

Post it in a new thread, please.
