Here is a nice resource for those truly interested in learning Mandarin Chinese on their own. I found the audio for MIT a bit lacking and supplement it with this course to help me. It is a free online textbook that North Carolina uses in its school district for teaching Chinese. It has videos along with transcripts, vocabulary list and audio.

Thank you very much for your sharing, I just checked out the stuff in the textbooks and the vocabulary audio tapes and they seem to be really helpful! I will start studying from them when I will have a little bit more of time.
