What should you do before you begin reading?

umm open the book? im not really sure what you mean? I guess understand what the books message/theme is, know all the vocab.

Skim through the material to get a general idea of the author's point of view. Once you get to the point where you say to yourself, "Oh, I understand what the author is saying" or "Oh I get what this is talking about", then you can begin reading.
