Solve. [X-3]>5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Are the brackets supposed to be absolute value?

Yes

Ix - 3I > 5 Ix - 3I < -5 isnt it?

When you have absolute value bars in an inequality, you split it into two different inequalities. For the first one, you simply remove the absolute value bars: \[x-3>5\]For the second one, switch the greater than sign and negate the 5: \[x-3<-5\]From here you can solve these two equations to reach your answer.

Oh that's right I was changing the -3 to a 3 thank you
