please help me ! The figure below shows some steps that Barry used to construct an angle at point Q, congruent to angle BAC.In the next step, Barry draws an arc from point L. What is the width of the compass that Barry should use? A.half of AJ B.half of AC C.equal to JK D.equal to AK

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know its not A or B...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

C. equal to JK

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you explain?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

please, im not the best at this :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Think about it. Once we have the length of JK we can use that to draw a point on arc L that can be used to create our angle when we draw a line through it (the point of arc L equal to distance JK) and the point Q.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Take your compass and make it equal to length JK.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Next, put one point of your compass on point L

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Nest, put the other point of your compass on the arc that is going through point L.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so basically where the two arcs intersect is where the top line is drawn from Q?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Draw that point with pencil (use the pencil side of the compass for the point on arc L)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

correct

ok thank you so much for explaining!
