IM LOST PLEASE HELP! What are the values of a, b, and c in the function? List them in order with commas, such as 1,-2,3. y = -2x2 + 5x - 4

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

a , b , and c are variables that are assigned to the coefficients of the function... y = -2x² + 5x - 4 The first coefficent...is -2...it comes before the x² The second coefficient is 5...comes before the x And the third coefficient is -4...the constant counts as one too yes.. so a = -2 b = 5 and c = -4

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

This equation is written in the form \[y = ax^2 + bx + c\] if that helps put a visual with the explanation at all :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so all I do it put them in order right or do I figure it out first?

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

I'm not sure what you have to figure out...I thought all we needed was to find the values of a, b and c Since your equation is \[y = -2x^2 + 5x - 4\] And that is in the form \[y = ax^2 + bx + c\] Your answers would be a = -2 b = 5 and c = -4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it would be -4, -2, 5?

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

Oh okay I see what you're saying... a , b , c -2, 5, -4 These are used for the quadratic equation

okay thank you!
