I'm assuming it's 1/(x-5)?

if it is, the answer is shifted to the right. when you have something like an (x-5), since it is directly modifying the variable, it is shifted horizontally in the opposite direction of the sign. in this case, since the sign in front of the five is negative, it is shifted in the positive(right) direction
