@GoldPhenoix

OpenStudy (jazzyfa30):

im about to post the Q

OpenStudy (jazzyfa30):

this is the first part Write an essay about the current state of the American Dream

OpenStudy (goldphenoix):

Nooo! Not that question.

OpenStudy (goldphenoix):

Don't expect me to write it. I can PROBABLY give you an idea.

OpenStudy (jazzyfa30):

but i dont know anything about the american dream

OpenStudy (jazzyfa30):

thats fine anything will help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

have you read Of mice and Men?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a book. and never mind then

OpenStudy (goldphenoix):

I read it.

OpenStudy (goldphenoix):

I believe Jazzy meant the present American Dream.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but she could compare that dream to the one today

OpenStudy (goldphenoix):

Of Mice and Men took place in the Great Depression, ~100 years ago.

OpenStudy (goldphenoix):

Hmm. True.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no, 1929 -1940

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or 1937

OpenStudy (goldphenoix):

Very rougly 100 years ago. >_> 1937, book was made.

OpenStudy (goldphenoix):

Why did you have to remind me of it. So sad. T~T

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It was stupid,

OpenStudy (jazzyfa30):

so does it tell about the American Dream

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes it does,

OpenStudy (goldphenoix):

Of Mice And Men is not stupid. D: It told the American Dream 100 years ago, very roughly.

OpenStudy (goldphenoix):

American Dream today changed.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now it is more like, get money and be successful

OpenStudy (jazzyfa30):

ok how did it change

OpenStudy (anonymous):

values were lost

OpenStudy (goldphenoix):

Economy is very bad in US, so now, people don't go to America to make some money, unless special circumstances.

OpenStudy (jazzyfa30):

so back when the book was made it was mostly about value now that the Dream has changed its mostly about money and sucess

OpenStudy (goldphenoix):

Not very bad, but not great.

OpenStudy (goldphenoix):

In the book, Lennie and George, the main character, wanted to have a stake. Since that's the American Dream. Stake is another way of owning something, like a big farm.

OpenStudy (jazzyfa30):

ok so let me get this straight suces was always apart of the AMerican Dream????

OpenStudy (goldphenoix):

Everyone has different American Dream..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but it usually involves achievment

OpenStudy (anonymous):

maybe not always in money but in other ways as well

OpenStudy (goldphenoix):

Back then, people usually come to America in search of freer, happier, and richer lives.

OpenStudy (goldphenoix):

I guess in all America's Dream, everyone want to happy.

OpenStudy (jazzyfa30):

so as of today the American dream is based off of the success and the economy but back when the book was made it was mostly about how people lived and wanted to live...????

OpenStudy (goldphenoix):

Well the book took place in the Graet Depression... so it was about owning something, making some money to live.

OpenStudy (jazzyfa30):

ohhhh ok

OpenStudy (goldphenoix):

American's Dream today? Not sure. You don't see as much people going to America to start a new life.

OpenStudy (goldphenoix):

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Dream can definetly help you.

OpenStudy (jazzyfa30):

thanks alot that helped me so much idk who to give a medal to
