If you wanted to raise a crop to sell and make money, you would grow what in AFRICA?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a.millet b.cocoa c.ivory?

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

ivory grows on elephants, which take a long time to grow (and elephant seeds are hard to come by :-)

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

millet grows all over the place in Africa, cocoa only grows in rainforest within 20 degrees of the equator. probably the profit from growing cocoa is higher for a given amount of land, but the question is a bit short on important details, like just where in Africa you might be doing this!

HanAkoSolo (jamierox4ev3r):

isn't ivory currently illegal to sell now?

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

it's a little more subtle than that. It is illegal to trade African elephant ivory across international borders. It is not however illegal to own or sell within the US items made of African elephant ivory if the ivory came to the US before the ban was enacted. For example, it is legal to sell an old piano with ivory key tops as long as you don't ship it out of the country. But in any case, ivory can't be considered a crop. It is not a harvested plant.
