Is differential geometry pure math? Is it college math or graduate level math? Are physics and engineering majors required to take this course?

Probably depends on what school you go to.  There are some colleges where students are taking Real Analysis as Freshmen.  I went to an undergraduate math conference last semester at Brown and there were guys reading books on manifolds and diff. geometry during the breaks, so yeah I'd say that if you are starting Uni already pretty mathematically mature then you shouldn't have any problem fitting it in.

I go to a state school, and diff. geometry isn't even on the radar of the other math majors I've spoken with.
