celeste wants to have her hair cut and permed and also go to lunch. she knows she will need $59. The perm cost twice as much as her haircut and she needs $5 for lunch. How much does her perm cost?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

help please

OpenStudy (anonymous):

perm= 2h lunch = 5 so 2h+h+ 5 = 59

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so what would i replace h with

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what do you mean replace? just solve for H then we work from there

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so h would be 18

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, now that you know how much hair cut cost you could figure our the perm's cost

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so i would subtract 59 and 5 and get 54 then subtract 54 from 18 to get 36 so the perm cost 36

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks for the help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

another way you could have gotten the answer is multiplying 18 by 2 because in the prob it states the hair cut is half the perm so
