normal distribution help!!!!!!!!!!
The heights of the students in a New York college were found to follow a normal distribution, with a mean of 170 centimeters and a standard deviation of 5 centimeters. Which range of values contains 95% of the data? How would u solve this?
As you can see from the normal distribution curve, 95% of all data falls within 2 standard deviations of the mean. So, to find this interval, we need to subtract 2 standard deviations from the mean, then add 2 standard deviations to the mean, to get our interval. In this case, since the standard deviation is 5, we would subtract 10 and add 10 to our mean of 170.
so u multiply the standard deviation by two
Yes, that'll give you two standard deviations. Then you subtract that from the mean, and add it to your mean.
plus / minus 1.96 standard deviations from the mean is a more accurate measure of 95% of values
