9^2x=66

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

Have you worked with logarithms before?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that's what im doing right now.. I have to solve it by using logarithms. its hard though

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So you have the following equation: \[9^{2x}=66\]You'll start by taking the natural log of both sides. When we take the natural log of the left side, the 2x drops down in front like this: \[2x \ln 9 = \ln 66\]Now we just need to isolate x. We start by dividing both sides by ln 9: \[2x=\ln 66 / \ln 9\]Now, just divide both sides by 2, and we're done.

I got 1.7012 and its wrong :/

\[\ln 66 / \ln 9 \approx 1.907\]Now, just divide this by two to get your answer.
