what does it mean when scientists say that living organisms share a universal genetic code?

OpenStudy (zale101):

That means that living organism share similar ancestory long long time ago, this means their genetic code is related. Have you studied about the DNA squences and the 4 bases Adenine Thymine Cytosine Guanine. They all share similar similar DNA bases. If organism share genetic codes, that means the DNA and RNA-only organisms have only a choice of four different "letters" in the code.

hope i helped :)

you did can you help me with two other ones please(; sorry im struggling and don't understand it so could you(:

OpenStudy (zale101):

one more :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how does a universal genetic code relate to the hypotheses about the origin of life on earth?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

zale101????

OpenStudy (zale101):

The best explanation for the near-universal genetic code is that all extant biological life shares an ancient common ancestor, that, itself, used this system.

thank you(:
