What number(s) should be excluded as values of x in the polynomial

and 4 - 4 = 0 in the denominator which is undefined and you don't want that

the denominator (the bottom part) cannot be 0 because then it will be undefined
so, you want to exclude 2 and -2 as values for x since

(2)^2 -4 = 0
and (-2)^2 -4 = 0
