OpenStudy (cwrw238):

find the derivative f' = -sinx - cosx = 0 for max/min -sinx = cosx -tanx = 1 tanx = -1 can you solve this for x?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I already had that, but I appreciate the input. I figured it out.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sqrt(2) cosx/sqrt(2)-sinx/sqrt(2)=sqrt(2)*( cosx cos pi/4 -sinx sin pi/4) =sqrt(2) * cos(x+pi/4) use -1<=cos(theta)<=1

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

the max and min values of the function will be sqty2 and -sqrt2
