Which expression could be used to calculate the amount of tax on an item if the tax is 6% and the item is d dollars?

if the tax is 6% of the sales price, then 6% * d will give you the value, although you'll probably want to convert the 6% to 6%/100% = 0.06 so the sales tax (in dollars) would be 0.06d

% is just a shortcut for *1/100
