Matrix and unlimited fun help! thanks in advance

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\left[ \frac{ 8 }{ 2 } \frac{ 23 }{ 6 }\right]^{-1}\]

OpenStudy (phi):

see http://www.mathwords.com/i/inverse_of_a_matrix.htm and look for "shortcut for 2 x 2 matrix"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

here is my answer \[\left[ \frac{ 6 }{ -2 } \frac{ (\frac{ -23 }{ 2 }) }{ 4}\right]\]

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

so, where's the "unlimited fun" at? :P

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

is this the matrix => \(\left\lbrack \begin{matrix} 8 & 23\\ 2 & 6\\ \end{matrix} \right\rbrack\) ?

OpenStudy (phi):

ok, but you should divide all 4 terms inside the matrix by the determinate = 2

OpenStudy (phi):

you get \[\frac{ 1 }{ 2 }\left[\begin{matrix}6 & -23 \\ -2 & 8\end{matrix}\right]\] the 1/2 out front multiplies every entry inside the matrix
