Okay.........

A lot of scientific words have greek or latin roots. When you see certain prefixes or suffixes, you should learn what they mean, since most of them pop up again and again and make it a lot easier for you to figure out what words mean and break them down into parts. For example, endothermic can be broken down into "endo" and "therm" and you will see these pop up all the time. here's just one random google result I picked that you might want to glance over for things you recognize. https://www.msu.edu/~defores1/gre/roots/gre_rts_afx2.htm?...
I think @Kainui 's suggestion is great! Also, I'm personally a big fan of using songs, like @primeralph was saying. Choose a catchy tune that belongs to something else, and fit the names and what they mean into the rhythm. Also, ask someone you know to quiz you -- sometimes it can be a drag, but the best way to expand the range of things you can keep in your head (esp. scientific names) is to use them and quiz yourself on them so much that it becomes second nature.
Yeah, if you can get a song stuck in your head that has lyrics of words you need to study, you'll practically be studying without effort constantly lol.
So true! :D Plus, hardly anyone can remember lots of scientific info off the top of their head, but nearly everybody can remember a song!
Or just find what you hate about them and sync it. C*ckroach: Periplaneta americana All over the planet and very many in America. *the openstudy system keeps changing "c*ck" to "wingspan".
