find the lateral area of the cylinder

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

lateral area = \(2 \pi r h\) \(r\) = radius \(h\) = height

OpenStudy (anonymous):

132pi?

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

Yes !

OpenStudy (kainui):

The reason this is the formula is because 2pi*r is the circumference of the circles on top and bottom, which is also the length of the rectangle you could cut out from the sides. The height is the other side, and since area is just width times height, that's all it is.
