AIDS has spread quickly in Africa because of poor sanitation, unprotected sex, and general poverty. AIDS reduces the amount of people able to perform manual labor, and how effective they are at it. As far as actions that are  are being taken to curb the spread of AIDS? Government distribution of meds. Use more condoms. Something like that.
