Try to compare it with the x^2 = 4ay form.
umm i just dont understand how to do it
what is the vertex, directrix and focus of a general parabola of the form x^2 = 4ay ?
vertex=(0,0) focus=(0,6) and directrix is y+6=0

where you say 4p = ? and then divide
X^2=4py X^2=24y 4p=24 p=6 hence focus is (0,6)
