How did you get that answer ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Let x be the no. of bowls of one fruit. Let y be the no. of bowls of the assorted fruit. He bought 16 bowls in total so x + y = 16 The cost of one type of fruit was 4. So the total cost of buying x bowls would be 4x. The cost of one bowl of assorted fruit was 6. So the total cost of buying y bowls would be 6y. He spent $84. So; 4x+6y=84 Now solve the two equation by elimination to get the value of y.
