"A bank teller has a total of 52 $20 bills in her cash drawer. The value of the bills is $900. If x represents the number of $10 bills, and y represents the number of $20 bills, determine the number of $10 bills that are in her drawer. I am so confused by this question considering 52x20=1040 & the value in her drawer is only $900.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x+y=52 10x+20y=900

okay so what is 900/20 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

45, but that isnt one of the options for an answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes im not done im trying to walk you through

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok you get 45 of 20 dollar bills to get 900 but they use 52 bills, how many it takes 90 10 dollar bills to get 900
