a container has a height of 3 inches and a volume of 108 square inches. A similar container has a height of 5 inches. what is the volume of the larger container? Help please !!!!!!!!!!!!!

HanAkoSolo (jamierox4ev3r):

you just create a ratio between the two containers

HanAkoSolo (jamierox4ev3r):

the first container is 3/108

HanAkoSolo (jamierox4ev3r):

and the next container is 5/x

HanAkoSolo (jamierox4ev3r):

the ratio looks something like this \[\frac{ 3 }{ 108 }=\frac{ 5 }{ x }\]

HanAkoSolo (jamierox4ev3r):

oops but here's a pic.|dw:1374032473572:dw|

HanAkoSolo (jamierox4ev3r):

then cross multiply and you should have this equation: 3x=540

OpenStudy (anonymous):

which well be 180 ? c:

HanAkoSolo (jamierox4ev3r):

thats right! does that make sense to you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ohh yes thank you very much ! c:

HanAkoSolo (jamierox4ev3r):
