8. The perimeter of a triangle is 45 feet. The ratio of the width to the length is 2:3:4. Find the measure of each side. Compare and contrast this problem with the extended ratios for the angles of a triangle. Find the sides of the triangle

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think you know perimeter of triangle= a+b+c

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and ratios are given ! that means let us suppose a= 2x, b=3x, c=4x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then 2x+3x+4x= 45 ft

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then 9x=45 then x=?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

good now put the value of x in 2x, 3x, 4x separetly you'll get the answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2x5=10, 3x5=15, 4x5=20

OpenStudy (anonymous):

good that's the answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

are those the side of the triangle?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep !

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok there are two parts to this question sorry i didnt fix it i forgot but we need to: compare and contrast this problem with the extended ratios for the angles of a triangle

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what does this mean?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

don't woory it's the same thing i guess ! may be it's tying to relate the previous question of the angle of triangle . bur since it only asked for the lenght of the side so no need to think abt contrast and compare stuffs !

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thanks :DD
