I WILL AWARD MEDAL AND FAN! Use complete sentences to explain how you would use graphing technology to find the solutions of 0 = 2x2 − 3x + 0.5. What do the solutions of 0 = 2x2 − 3x + 0.5 represent on the graph of the equation?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@amistre64 , I know I bother you a lot but could you please help me.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Or maybe @satellite73 , could you help.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\( 0 = 2x^2 − 3x + 0.5 \) would be the point or points where the curve crosses the \(x\) axis, if you graph is

OpenStudy (anteater):

How detailed do you have to be in your description? Is there a particular graphing calculator they want you to use?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No, just a short answer explanation.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that is how i would use it if i had to

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But what would I explain @satellite73

OpenStudy (anteater):

The reason I asked is because I didn't know if they want you to define a viewing window and all of that stuff or if they just want you to explain that the solutions of the function would be the x-intercepts of the graph.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i like my explanation here is a picture http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=y%3D2x2+%E2%88%92+3x+%2B+0.5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The second one @anteater

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@satellite73 , but what would I say.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then you have it say "graph and find the points where it crosses the \(x\) axis, as those are the solutions to \(0 = 2x^2 − 3x + 0.5\) "

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh, thanks. So I would say "To find the solutions of 0 = 2x2 − 3x + 0.5 you graph and find the points it crosses the x axis, as those are the solutions to 0=2x2−3x+0.5." @satellite73
