A rock climber stands on top of a 58m -high cliff overhanging a pool of water. He throws two stones vertically downward 1.0s apart and observes that they cause a single splash. The initial speed of the first stone was 1.5m/s. How long does it take for take a look..How long after the release of the first stone does the second stone hit the water?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the time it takes the first stone to hit the water is \[-\frac12gt^2 - v_1~t + h = 0\] since they splash down at the same time, id assume that it takes the second stone the same amount of time as the first one .....
