The sequence is geometric. What is the next term?
12, 24, 48, 96,...

it goes by multiples of 2
12 x 2 = 24
24 x 2 = 48
48 x 2 = 96

you could divide each term by 1/2 but that is not the simplest way to think of the problem.... each term is twice as big as the one before it.
