So add all the number togther in this case it would be 81 and 4 and you get 85. Then take the total of the numbers and divide it by the total of numbers you added together in this case your total is 85 and the total of numbers is 2. so 85 divided by 2 is 42.5

but that isn't one of your choices so it ask for the geometric mean of 81 and 4 so this is a little different. 

Multiply 81 and 4 together to get 324 and take the squared root because you have 2 numbers.
