please help! Only question I don't understand! I'll give medal Write the function f(x) = -2x2+ 8x- 5 in standard form and determine the direction and vertex of the parabola.

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

so, what would be the standard form of that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't know? I thought that it was already in standard form

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

yes it is! so, that IS the standard form already, is arranged by term degree in descending order notice the leading coefficent, -2 if the leading coefficient in a parabola is negative, is opens DOWNWARD for the y = \(\bf ax^2+x+c\) type

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh okay! But what would be the vertex?

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

for the vertex for that type of parabola, just use $$ \left(-\cfrac{b}{2a}, c-\cfrac{b}{2a}\right)\\ \bf y = ax^2+bx+c $$ for the (x, y) values

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so I plug in the numbers?

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

yeap

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay thank you

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):
