Which point lies in the solution set for the following system of inequalities? y > x + 4 y > -x + 2 (1, 6) (-2, -1) (-3, 2) (1, 1)

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

look at choice D (just picking on a random choice) plug in (1,1) into y > x + 4 to get y > x + 4 1 > 1 + 4 1 > 5 which is false

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

since it's false, this means that (1,1) is not part of the solution set of y > x+4 and the entire system so that rules out choice D

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

you would do the same for the other choices and see which choice makes both inequalities true

OpenStudy (anonymous):

B

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

what do you get when you plug choice B into the first inequality?
