So the first area would be
the side facing you would be '8*2' =16
and we know we have two of those sides

then let's calculate the top and bottom areas
3*8=24 [we have two of those too]

then the sides
2*3=6
[two of those too]

So the total area will be all of these mini areas added up

16+16+24+24+6+6
