solve algebraically 4x/2x-3=4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok first what you want to do is remove the denominator by multiplying both sides by (2x-3)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then you are left with 4x=4(2x-3)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then distribute... 4x=8x-12

OpenStudy (anonymous):

subtract 8x from 4x and you get -4x=-12

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh! ..was dividing each side by 4...:(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Isolate the variable by diving by -4 and you et X=3 !!!! And you can plug it in to check :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes!! thank you so much

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and when they ask to solve it symbolically, what do they mean?
