Please help Purchasing discount points is a decision which can be financially justified or not justified. Create a unique example where purchasing discount points is not justified, solve the problem, and explain why the decision isn’t justified.
Get out a loan calculator. Pick an amount to be borrowed, a term, and an interest rate. Pick a slightly different interest rate, and some number of points to be paid for the privilege of getting that lower interest rate. Pick a fraction of the length of the loan and see if the loan with points is cheaper than the non-discounted loan. If it is, pick a smaller fraction, or increase the number of points, or otherwise make the points scenario economically unjustified.
