Find the value of x. http://curriculum.kcdistancelearning.com/courses/GEOMx-HS-A09/a/assessments/Semester1Exam/Geometry_SemesterA_Final_151q.gif

How many degrees does a triangle have?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

30-90-60

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@GoldPhenoix

OpenStudy (goldphenoix):

That means a triangle have 180 degrees in total. Now angle B has a degree of ( 11x - 9 ) Angle A has a degree of (4x + 7) Angle C has a degree of 32. So what equation can you use to find x?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

um... im not sure. the pathagorem theorem?

OpenStudy (goldphenoix):

Nope. We cannot use the pythagoream theorm because first of all, we have angles degree, not the length. Here's a great hint. a + b + c = 180. So what does our equation looks like?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

11x-9+4x+7=180

OpenStudy (goldphenoix):

Not quite. Your saying that b + c = 180. What are you missing?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

11x-9+4x+7+30=180?

OpenStudy (goldphenoix):

Angle A doesn't say 30. It say something else.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oohhh its 60 right?

OpenStudy (goldphenoix):

Lol. Its 32. Angle A = 32. It said it.

OpenStudy (goldphenoix):

So the equation should look like: \[\large \large (37) + (4x+7) + (11x-9) = 180\] What can we simplify on the left side?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh :( see i really sick at these problems

OpenStudy (goldphenoix):

So which terms can we combine?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait 37? i thought you said 32???

OpenStudy (goldphenoix):

Oh. My bad. >_> \[\large \large (32) + (4x+7) + (11x-9) = 180\]

OpenStudy (goldphenoix):

Now which terms can we combine?
