integral of sqrt(x)/(1+x^3)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you would like to set \[x^{3/2}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[u=x^{2/3}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how did you know how to do that? Because i was trying to figure it out and couldnt

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if u set u=x^{3/2} du would be 3/2x^1/2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i first tried integration by parts but that didnt work

OpenStudy (anonymous):

let me write it good lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im taking calc 2 right now and its hard to try to figure out which technique to use when solving integrals

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[u=x^{3/2}\] \[du=\frac{ 3 }{ 2 }\sqrt[]{x}dx\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so now u can substitude in the integral

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah it worked.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sometimes its not very obvious to see the substitution but with more problem solving u get idea what to do xD

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thanks!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no problem :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

have you take calc 2 yet?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes i have , calc 3 right now

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok, im taking that in the fall. any suggestions when trying to solve integrals?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i can just recomend you this site wolframalpha if u dont know it yet , can help you a LOT it did quite good job for my maths , and for solving integrals i am not quite sure what to suggest you its mostly about practise and facing more and more different integrals and u'll get the idea :) good luck

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thanks! take care
