Suggestion: Put a limit on the amount of people an asker can tag in their question?
I just finished looking at a question in mathematics where the asker tagged at least 50 people in one response. Not only does it unfairly inflate the user's trustscore, it's annoying when 25 of us are looking at the same question, and it's unnecessary.

I don't know exactly what the limit should be or how it's enacted, but I think it's something that should happen in some way.

Yep, couldn't agree more.
I tested this hack on another fake account of mine, tagged tons of people, and my SmartScore went up to 45 without doing anything.

I think there shouldn't only be a limit to how many people you can tag (for annoyance sake), I just think that tagging should not count at all on your SmartScore, or if it does, minimally.
